SEALING SYSTEM

All Piranha pumps have Silicon Carbide vs. Silicon Carbide mechanical seals.

P-1500, P-2000, P-3000 and P-4500 model pumps are equipped with an aluminum seal housing and a stainless steel cartridge type seal with solid silicon carbide seal faces. This state of the art system can withstand extremely high pressure and utilizes anti-vibration bellows to prevent the seal faces from separating even under the most extreme operating conditions. The mechanical seals run in an oil filled chamber reducing the chance of overheating and failure.

PATENTED LIP SEAL DESIGN

On the impeller disc of each pump is a non-rotating lip seal. This seal is activated by the impeller rotating in the correct direction and creates a force which pulls the lip seal to the back of the impeller, prohibiting water and abrasives from getting to the mechanical seal.

IMPELLER DISC SEAL

Additionally, the impeller disc is sealed at the edges of the oil housing cover and there is the extra protection of an o-ring in the oil housing chamber circling the shaft. These seals prohibit water from getting in the back of the impeller disc and to the mechanical seal. The Piranha "P" Sealing system is the most comprehensive on the market.

THERMAL OVERLOAD PROTECTION

Every Piranha "P" unit has two thermal overload klixons wound into the stator. If the pump should overheat for any reason, the overloads shut the pump off automatically.

DISCHARGE LINING-DIFFUSER

Every Piranha "P" series unit has a discharge lining as standard equipment. This lining eliminates wear on the pump housing from abrasive action and is available in a variety of materials such as nitrile, rubber, polyurethane, nylon etc. The diffuser on every Piranha "P" series pump is field adjustable, does not require shimming and is also available in a variety of materials such as nitrile, rubber, polyurethane, nylon etc.

CONTACTOR

The contactor is located in the head of the pump. Klixons are wired directly into the contactor thus eliminating the need for a contactor in the control box.

IMPELLERS

Standard impellers are made of hardened stainless steel (17-4ph) capable of withstanding both heavy abrasives and chemical attack. Impellers and rotor shafts are keyed and threaded for a double secure fit.

PERFORMANCE

Generally it can be stated that Piranha "P" series pumps provide more overall efficiency - more gallons per minute (gpm) per horsepower (hp). This allows a customer to use a smaller "P" pump, saving money on the unit and subsequent operating costs.

COATING

All Piranha "P" series pumps can be Teflon Rhino Coated for extra protection in corrosive operating environments. The process is dramatically effective and economical.

PORTABILITY

All Piranha "P" series pumps are very lightweight when compared to similar HP competitive pumps. The slimline design of the pumps facilitates installation in tight quarters.
